The Needmor Fund for Conference Attendance 2014

In 2014, with the support from the Needmor Fund, Little People of America will offer three scholarships to attend the National Conference in San Diego. The scholarships will be awarded to individuals with dwarfism who are members of underserved populations within the dwarfism community, who show a strong interest in joining and getting involved with Little People of America, and who demonstrate a strong financial need. Scholarships will cover a one year membership with Little People of America, transportation costs, and a three night stay at the National Conference Hotel, not to exceed $1100 per awardee. Following the San Diego Conference, awardees will be required to submit a write up with highlights of their conference experience to be shared with the LPA BOD and the Needmor Fund. Awardees will be encouraged to share the write up with the LPA Membership.

When applying, the applicant should submit a cover letter explains their interest in LPA and how they qualify for the scholarship.

Applications must be submitted online.
To qualify for the fund the applicant must meet the following criteria:

1)                 applicants do not need to be a first-time attendee of a National Conference
2)                 must express willingness to be actively involved with your local chapter and district for the duration of the
                    1-year membership
3)                 any minor child must be accompanied by an adult/guardian

When applying, the applicant should submit a cover letter explaining why they should qualify for the fund.  In the cover letter (if possible), provide the name of an LPA member (non-family) as a reference.

Since funds for travel are limited total family expenses are not covered. No monies will be awarded until the applicant is actually at the conference, therefore, conference reservations and travel arrangements should be made in advance.  This award is a reimbursement.
