LPA OWLS Mission Statement

The Older Wiser Little Seniors (OWLS) Group, a passionate group of Little People of America members ages 55 and older, is focused on supporting all members of LPA as they plan for a good life while they age. The OWLS group will identify issues, opportunities, and share information so that our senior members can live and enrich their lives to the fullest and that members of all ages in the LPA organization may benefit from our skills and experience.

OWLS Online

The OWLS Online Zoom calls started back in July 2020, just a few months into the COVID pandemic.  Over 1,300 OWLS within LPA were in need of some social connection with their LPA family.  We all had a feeling that it might be awhile until we could see each other in-person.  What was started as a general online chat call then has now become a permanent part of the OWLS Group offerings.

These online Zoom calls are now held on the 3rd Sunday of every other month.  These calls have become a vital part of staying together as a Community.  By inviting guest presenters, we've had some awesome Zoom calls led by various members of the LPA OWLS Community and the LPA Community in general.

As we look ahead, we already have Zoom calls and District OWLS Mixer and Open Forums scheduled with more details about those presentations to come in the near future via announcements on the OWLS Facebook page, the Vintage LPA Facebook page, each LPA District's Facebook page, and direct e-mails.

OWLS Legacy Reception

It was great to see old faces and new at LPA's Inaugural OWLS Legacy Reception, which was held on Sunday, July 3, 2022  during the Spokane National Conference. Huge shout out to District 2’s Anthony Soares for sponsoring this year's OWLS Legacy Reception.

We had an amazing turnout with 35 people in attendance. Thank you to Faith Pedersen, Membership Coordinator for helping facilitate the event. We had 23 OWL members and 12 Young Adults and Teens.

During the reception, we ran a continuous loop of photographic memories put together by Harold Weaver and Jim Kay.

We will do this again in Austin, Texas. Hope to see everyone next year at the Conference.

If you have anything Newsy, please email Greg Lawrence ( [email protected]) or Harold Weaver ([email protected]) for inclusion in our next OWLS Zoom Meeting.
